Eric Bieniemy’s wife Mia called 911 herself after being sH๏τ twice by her son Elijah and was carried out of their family home by police who raced to the scene, it has emerged.

The Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator has since left the team’s training camp to be alongside his wife, who needed surgery after being sH๏τ in the left forearm and shoulder which traveled across her chest, according to NBC Washington.

She still has fragments from the bullet inside her after the operation, the report says.

The news channel also showed footage from neighbors of armed police breaking into the Bieniemy home in Virginia on Sunday evening. Three officers were then filmed carrying an injured woman out of the home.

Neighbors have also reported hearing screaming around the gunsH๏τs but also said that they considered Elijah to be ‘quiet’ and didn’t ᴀssociate him with trouble.

Mia is in a stable condition in hospital while Elijah, 27, is being held by police without bond. His first hearing is scheduled for August 31.

New details have emerged after Elijah Bieniemy was arrested for shooting his mother, Mia

Elijah, the son of Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was detained on Sunday night

Video obtained by Fox 5 DC on Monday showed Elijah in handcuffs standing against a squad car for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

He has been charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling. Elijah is not believed to have had any encounters with the law in the past.

The Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman, meanwhile, told WJLA: ‘She had called in – the mother, who we know – had called in the shooting, and it was involving the son, so that’s where we’re at right now.

‘We have to go through an entire investigation to find out exactly where everybody was, what everybody did, what prompted it, how it all transpired, but we’re investigating right now.’

Eric Bieniemy has been excused indefinitely from his work with the Chiefs, a job he returned to in the offseason in a move that had spread excitement among the Kansas City team.

Travis Kelce was one of the first Chiefs stars to welcome Bieniemy back, saying on his New Heights podcast: ‘He’s one of my favorite coaches of all time. I’ve had so many unbelievable growing moments under him as a player.’

But as Kelce returns to Chiefs camp on Tuesday, thoughts from the тιԍнт end and the rest of the team will be with the absent coach and his family.

Bieniemy spent multiple years with the Chiefs from 2013 to 2022 as running backs coach and offensive coordinator before departing for different opportunities in pursuit of a head coaching gig.

While that job never materialized, he was the ᴀssistant head coach and offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders under Ron Rivera. And it was that job that led to his family making a home in Loudon County, Virginia.

He most recently worked as the running backs coach for the Chicago Bears, alongside Ben Johnson in his impressive first season as head coach in Illinois.

Speaking on Monday, shortly after news of the shooting emerged, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid paid an emotional tribute to Mia.

‘Our hearts go out to Eric Bieniemy and his family. Thoughts and prayers are with them,’ he said. ‘She’s a saint, one of God’s good blessings. But things happen.’

As for when Bieniemy might return, Reid added: ‘We’ll just see how things go. Real life, you take care of that.’
